Real Support for People Ready to Do Something About It

A Calgary psychology practice with a focus on men's mental health, couples, and the moments in life that demand more than pushing through.

Most people don't call a psychologist because things are going well.

They call because something shifted. At home, at work, inside themselves. The usual approach of grinding through it stopped working. Maybe the relationship is in trouble. Maybe the pressure has been building for years and it's starting to show up in ways you can't ignore. Maybe you've been carrying something for a long time and you're finally ready to put it down.

That's the work I do.

I'm Dr. Kristian Whillans, founder of The Source Psychology in Calgary. I work with adults and couples, with a particular focus on men's mental health. My approach is direct and practical. I won't ask you to sit in silence while I take notes. I'll help you understand what's actually happening in your nervous system, your patterns, and your relationships, and give you tools that work in the real world.

Here's what I've learned in over two decades of this work: you already know more about yourself than you think. The answers rarely need to be imported. They need to be surfaced, understood, and acted on. You are the source. My job is to help you get there.

No paperwork, no commitment. Just a conversation to see if we're a good fit.

Philosophy

Struggles rarely live in one person alone.

Most of what hurts happens between people: in marriages gone quiet, friendships that faded, families that stopped talking. And most healing happens the same way, in honest relationship. Therapy is where that starts.

Who I work with

Three ways in.

Adult Individuals

Stress, anxiety, depression, anger, identity, transitions, and the things you've never said out loud. Including dedicated support for emerging adults building direction and skills for adult life.

Services

Couples

Gottman-trained couples therapy for partners ready to look honestly at the patterns they're stuck in. First intake is a full 80 minutes, because rushed beginnings don't work.

Couples Therapy

Men's Mental Health

Therapy built around how men actually think, communicate, and struggle. Not a generic approach with a masculine coat of paint.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you only work with men?

No. Men's mental health is a focus of the practice, not a boundary around it. About half of my clients are women, and I work with adults of all genders, as well as couples.

How do I get started?

Book a free 15-minute consultation by phone or online. We'll talk briefly about what you're dealing with and whether working together makes sense.

Do you offer direct billing?

Not currently. You'll receive a receipt after each session to submit to your insurance provider. Most extended health plans in Alberta cover services provided by a Registered Provisional Psychologist, but check your specific plan.

Where are sessions held?

In person in Calgary, or by secure video anywhere in Alberta.
